![]() Brian Gross Fine Art is pleased to announce Ink on Paper, the first solo exhibition for emerging Bay Area artist Doron Fishman, opening at Brian Gross Fine Art at One Post Street on January 10, 2011. Using "ink, gravity, paper, mechanics, and air," Fishman explores abstraction, light, and natural phenomena. On view will be eight recent works, including two towering vertical scrolls, 238 by 55 inches each. The exhibition continues through April 1. Fishman's practice is focused on form, materials, and process. He draws on prior experience as an engineer to design hand-built mechanisms that use simple materials and motion to generate mysterious, organic abstractions. By applying Sumi ink to wet paper, the artist creates ethereal compositions that can resemble smoke, water, topographies, or cosmic landscapes. Doron Fishman received his MFA from California College of the Arts in 2010. His work has been featured in multiple group exhibitions in the Bay Area, Portland, Oregon, and Colorado. Brian Gross Fine Art mounts four exhibitions a year in the lobby gallery at One Post Street. Lobby hours are Monday–Friday, 8am–6pm. |
